We appreciate so much all the many kind messages of concern as the Trump administration’s tariff policy evolves. For small independent retailers like us, a 145% tariff on goods from China along with heightened tariffs on goods from other parts of Asia is essentially a death blow. The only question is how long can each of us last before a more reasonable solution is reached. After 54 years of serving NYC, we’ve survived a lot of disasters and will keep punching for as long as we can. But this situation is different and will have far-reaching effects, which mom-and-pops will feel first.
