Can YOU make fans like this? Practice these steps to control lashes like an absolute boss! It might look like magic, but it’s all about control and teeny tiny muscle movements. If you struggle with any tension release method (i.e. pinching, flower cup, or in the glue tray), there is probably a fine motor function you just haven’t developed yet: the gradual release. All too often we are going to extremes, while we have to master that middle ground - relaxing your tweezers just enough to to let that fan pop open. This is how you create that control, one lash at a time: First, grab a small bunch of fine diameter lashes (about 1mm worth) with your tweezer about half way between the very tip and the middle of the foot of the tweezer. (You’ll want to pick them up with the tweezer’s sweet spot, but that’s another post entirely!) Second, holding tightly, peel them off the strip. Third, without applying any adhesive, start to release your tension - or your grip - on the tweezer so slowly that only one lash moves at a time. Continue to release pressure until, one at a time, each lash has been released from the grip of the tweezer. Yes, the lashes will be a mess and look like they are going to fly away like a dandelion in the wind, that’s ok. Repeat these steps very slowly but surely, making sure you can do this with complete control instead of the lashes flying all over without your permission. Then, add this controlled movement to your favorite fan making technique. Watch your fans spread more evenly, and more pradictably than ever before!
