Jacaranda season is one of the most magical times to visit CDMX! Similar to cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C. and Japan, jacaranda trees in Mexico City serve as a reminder that spring has sprung. In the 1930s, Mexico’s president wanted to plant cherry blossoms on the streets of the capital city to pay tribute to Japan and Mexico’s friendship, but the winters were not cold enough for the pink trees to bloom. So Japanese gardener architect, Tatsugoro Matsumoto, who tended to the plants in Chapultepec park recommended the city plant jacaranda trees instead. As a result, Mexico City’s spring season is now well-recognized around the world for its beautiful purple flower trees, which bloom during the months of March and April. #mexicoinmypocket #fallinlovewithmexico #jacarandas #cdmx #jacaranda #primavera #spring
