In Arizona, late October 2024, KUIU Conservation Direct hit a milestone with our 10th sheep translocation. Over a hectic 24 hours, we captured 28 sheep from the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge and released them to the Harcuvar Mountains. This project represented another successful partnership with the Arizona Game and Fish and the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society. Like all Conservation Direct projects, it was fully funded with contributions from KUIU and our customers. The customer contribution portion for this project was the purchase of 10 GPS collars to monitor the sheep in their new habitat. A testament to the customer support for these fully funded projects, all 10 collars sold out in less than four hours. Over the course of all Conservation Direct projects, KUIU customers have purchased 128 collars. With this milestone, KUIU Conservation Direct has now translocated 224 Desert, Rocky, and California Bighorn sheep in five different states. #KUIUNation #KUIU
