Reminder: you’re exactly where you need to be right now. It’s ok to rest. Take things slow. Calm your nervous system. Fasting can kick our nervous system into overdrive as if we’re supposed to be doing something (like finding food, a primitive response) - it tricks us into thinking we need to be overactive. But the jihad-al-nafs (internal struggle) of this month is to work against that and tell your mind, body and soul it’s ok to rest. We need to rest, we literally don’t have fuel in our bodies to operate at a high level. And it’s in that time of rest and slowing down that we are most connected to Allah (S). Ramadan is a time we charge our spiritual battery. And what are the spiritual muscles we’re strengthening? Tawakkul (trust), Yaqeen (belief and conviction) connecting to Allah’s words through the Quran. We cannot do these things in an overactive state. It comes when our nervous system is calm. When we’re at rest. It’s ok to slow down ❤️
