I grew up calling the now-trendy “Carnivore Bar”
•
“Pemmican”
•
A protein rich, energy packed, nutrient-dense survival bar, if you will, that is pretty synonymous with our culture
I grew up calling the now-trendy “Carnivore Bar” • “Pemmican” • A protein rich, energy packed, nutrient-dense survival bar, if you will, that is pretty synonymous with our culture. • The name “pemmican” comes from the Cree word “pimikan,” which means “manufactured grease.” • The rendered fat not only provides essential calories and nutrition for energy and survival, but it also forms a protective seal around the meat, shielding it from bacterial growth. • But these bars are also popular with outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, and anyone looking for a quick and easy meal on the go. • This is a *meal* so get dessert out of your head. • This is not sweet. Not a treat. It fuels and energizes. And honestly, you might not even like it. • Regardless what you call it, or know it as, this traditional Native American food that has been around for centuries. • Nutritionally, it’s a great source of protein and fat (and non-starchy carbohydrates, if adding berries like we did here). • This makes it an ideal source of sustained energy. • At home, it’s easy to prepare and can be made with minimal equipment and ingredients. • What really sets pemmican apart, though, is its long shelf life. It’s dried for longer than jerky and the high fat content helps preserve it. That means it can keep for many years without refrigeration, making it ideal for outdoor activities and emergencies. • Making pemmican may seem difficult, but it is actually quite simple. • My traditional recipe calls for only two ingredients: lean meat and fat. • Modern variations often include additional ingredients such as dried fruits, nuts, and spices. • I add salt to mine for flavor and to help with preservation, honey for sweetness and to get the kids to enjoy them more, and some freeze dried berries to add a bit of color and something special. • Check out the pinned comment for the exact recipe and additional notes! - - - - #carnivore #carnivorebar #cleanliving #toxicfree #energybar #recipes #food #homestead #homesteading #homesteader #farm #smallfarm #farmkitchen #scratchkitchen

I’m always so excited to share our line of TINTED tallow glosses
I’m always so excited to share our line of TINTED tallow glosses! • These are perfect for the lips AND cheeks…and, well, eyes too! • Subtle color and maximum moisture. • These are also great for not just us, but also for the daughters in our lives’ because they’re safe, natural, non-toxic! • So ditch the play makeup and swap it for something nourishing but also so fun! • I have tinted each color to the best of my natural abilities. • The deepest brown of the collection is tinted with cocoa and powdered reishi mushroom. • The mauve is created from pink and Bentonite clays. • The pink’s color comes from crushed rose petals and a bit of shimmering, one hundred percent, cosmetic high-grade mica. • And the red is made from beet root and sparkling mica as well. • Not only are you getting a beautiful tint, you are also receiving all the amazing skincare benefits has to offer! • The fat comes from our grassfed cows and from other cattle I process on other farms, as well. • We then take it home and render it by hand to create this clarified super fat. • The best part of tallow? • The CLA! • Conjugated linolenic acid- is an omega-5 fatty acid, has significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and has been shown to stimulate keratinocyte proliferation and epidermal regeneration! • It also protects against uv rays and prevents fine lines and wrinkles from even forming! • Woah! • Our tallow moisturizers are also packed with nutrients and they have similar fat saturation levels as we do - making it easy for our body to absorb! • Our tallow whip also contains vitamins A, D, E, K, and B12, which can all be beneficial to your skin health and appearance! • And given tallow’s organic compatibility with our skin, it works as a natural sebum locking in moisture and nutrients without clogging your pores! • These properties are what make our tallow whip so great for skin conditions including dry, chapped, calloused, cracked, and sun-damaged skin, rashes, burning, itching, wrinkles, and so on! • And great news! • We’re stocked up on our website with these beauties and we also restock March 28 at 10am cst! - - - - - #tallow #skincare #naturalskincare #lipgloss #crunchy

For the last several decades, “plant-based” has been a huge buzzword in the natural skincare world and the wellness community
For the last several decades, “plant-based” has been a huge buzzword in the natural skincare world and the wellness community. • With its rise has come the downfall of animal-based products. • Animal-based products are now left out, undervalued, and even vilified in the clean beauty industry. • Don’t get me wrong – plants are incredible. • They have extraordinary healing + medicinal benefits. • This is why we use so many of them in our products as well! • But the unique power of animal-based ingredients can’t be understated. • Animal-based products contain specific benefits that we can’t access through plants. • In the same way animal-based products provide a rich source of bioavailable nutrients in your diet (aka easily absorbed + used by the body), the same is true for your skin. • Animals provide a much more compatible framework for human nutrition based on their similar design. • Our ancestors believed in a nose-to-tail philosophy when using animal products. • Every part of the animal had a use. • This is how we show honor and respect for the lives of the animals. • Plants and animals play different roles innourishing our gut with nutrients, in the same principle can be applied to your skin microbiome! • Animal-based products fill that nutrient gap for your skin too. • Animal-based products from well-raised animals have been used in skincare for thousands of years. • And with proven results! • If you haven’t tried a fat or milk based product, I’d encourage you to do so and give your skin what it’s been missing! - - - #farm #farmfresh #farmraised #soap #soaper #soapcutting #tallow #tallowsoap #goatmilk #goatmilksoap #naturalskincare #skincareproducts #naturalskincareproducts #toxinfree #sustainable #homestead #homesteader #homesteadersofinstagram #herbalist #animalbased #prairiestyle #cowboystuff #cowgirl

Satan hates marriage because he knows what a blessing it is and how powerfully God can use it to further His kingdom
Satan hates marriage because he knows what a blessing it is and how powerfully God can use it to further His kingdom. • Beware that Satan is working double time behind the scenes to kill, steal, and destroy your marriage (John 10:10). • He will try to create confusion, division, and disillusionment. • He will use anyone and everyone. • He will try the front door, back door, and side door. • And he will do everything he can to tear the two of you apart, so be on guard, and don’t give him a foothold (Ephesians 4:27)! • Hold steadily to God knowing that He is greater than any weapon formed against you (1 John 4:4, Isaiah 54:17). • It’s easy to let life pull you in a thousand directions. • There’s always someone and something that needs to be taken care of, but the one person that shouldn’t fall to the back burner is your spouse. • God has entrusted him/her in your care, so make sure you are truly caring for them. • Your marriage simply cannot stand the test of time if you are neglecting it. • You have to invest in it if you want it to be the best. • Caring for, loving, and respecting your spouse are now your primary objectives, and that’s where your loyalty and responsibility must lie. • But also don’t expect your spouse to fulfill the role of God. • Oftentimes we expect our spouse to make us feel valued, loved, and complete. • While our spouse certainly is a source of great joy, encouragement, and love, we must find our true identity, purpose, and fulfillment in Christ alone. • Once we have that strong understanding and truth in our heart, then we don’t chase after the emotional highs and lows that come with seeking things in this world to fulfill us in a way they never can. • Love yourself, and then you can love others. 🥰💕🫶🙏 • Happy Sunday lil lovebirds. - - - #believer #relationships #husbandandwife #christlike #homestead #homesteaders #love

Our society used to be mostly agricultural
Our society used to be mostly agricultural. • It revolved around the nuclear and extended family, a close-knit community where people usually lived their whole lives, the family farm, the village, the artisan tool-maker, and everything small-scale and personal. • For better or worse, the Industrial Revolution put an end to that kind of life and propelled us to a world where manual work is scoffed at, and agriculture is seen as something menial or boring. • Yet this did nothing to change our nature. • As living beings, we were made to interact with other living beings. • It is good and healthy for us to tread earth, smell flowers, pick fruit off trees, take care of animals, and make occasional escapes into wilderness. • People who live in small apartments in big cities can find an outlet for this healthy instinct by growing plants in pots, keeping an aquarium and a cat, and venturing out to the country from time to time. • The words “farm”, “country”, “rural”, “pastoral”, “village” still bring up pleasant nostalgic associations (compare them with the associations you get when you hear the words “factory”, “industry”, “rush hour”, “traffic” or “highway”), and some people even find out that they are inherently incapable of living the city life anymore, and drop their perfectly good jobs in order to cultivate a piece of rural land. • We still yearn for the simple, cyclic, gentle and healthy rhythm which can be found in nature, the earth, and the seasons. • While I would like, and am ready, to believe that a small-scale farming/homesteading revolution is possible, I also think the only way for it to happen is by individual people making the change in their private lives. • I don’t think it will ever be encouraged or supported by the government, for many reasons. • Three thoughts are in the pinned comments… - - - #homesteading #homesteader #smallfarm #smallfarming #farmstead #farmher #homestead #homesteadersofinstagram

There’s something so personal about artisanal, small batch skincare
There’s something so personal about artisanal, small batch skincare. • And as small batch producers of farm fresh products, we know our stuff! • Passionate about natural skincare, and our animals, our product ranges are usually born as a solution to a skin issue we’ve dealt with personally. • And there are many environmental stressors our skin deals with every day that we don’t have much control over! • I believe we need to make conscious choices about the things we can control including not only what we eat, but the products we put onto our skin lower our exposure to chemicals. • We just finished stocking back up the website for the next couple of weeks! • Many of your favorites are back in stock like the Honey Pot and the Tinted Tallow Glosses! • And since the goats are beginning to freshen, the milk is beginning to flow for the spring season, which means we also have plenty of goat milk whips to go around! • My absolute favorite whip is the Sassafras and Marshmallow Root right now, omg! And, yes, there’s a Goat Milk and Farm Fats soap bar to go along with it! Just as creamy and dreamy! • We made sure to render and whip up plenty of the Honied Orange Tallow that walks off our farm just as soon as we can make it, too! • I have some new spring infused soaps that are out like the Crushed Rosemary and Wild Ginger (current favorite soap), Sandalwood Rose, Grapefruit, and Patchouli Lavender (all things patchouli!) • But we also restocked your favorite bars like the Healing Earth Clay, Watermelon, and Heliotrope & Magnesium. • We just launched our handcrafted Black Seed Oil as well, and entire tincture and lip service lines are restocked too! • If you aren’t supporting a small batch skincare creator today, you should really give your skin a treat and give it a try! • Go check it out on our website www.wcfmarket.com! • Fresh, ethical and handcrafted on a micro-scale; from our farm, with our hands, to your home. • Because of your support, we can continue to reach and teach others. Thank you. 🥰🫶💕 - - - #skincare #tallow #smallbatchskincare #smallbatch #herbalist #soap #soaper #eczema #soapmaker #naturalskincare #toxicfree #farmer #farmfresh #goatmilk #goatmilksoap

Bonus points for looking tough too
Bonus points for looking tough too. 🙌 • This time of year, the seasonal transition, makes it SO hard to find work clothes to fit the job. • So for this week’s #farmfashionfriday- I wanted to feature a company that fits the bill. • My insulated overalls are now too hot. • But those lightweight gardening overalls are too light…and offer zero protection. • So @sukworkwear caught my eye not that long ago, as a work wear option to try out. • And no, I don’t mean a fashion brand that “looks tough” but that’s as far as it goes. • I mean a company that makes durable work clothes built for a man’s job, but that women are doing. • Manual labor. Factory work. Construction. Farming. • Us girls want clothes that aren’t just protective and will last- but that are built for us too! • And boy does @sukworkwear deliver! • At first- it was their designs that caught my eye aesthetically. • Suk has a limited selection of just a few thoughtfully designed pieces available in a select few color options. • All reminiscent of Rosy the Riveter. Nodding to the bad*as women that did the men’s work during wartime. These designs are cool. • But the function and design are executed down to every single little detail. • Durable brass snaps & brass d-rings to keep keys and tools by your side. • Deep pockets and hammer loops. • These AMAZING pull straps at the sides to adjust the sizing either up OR down. • High waistlines for work time modesty. • Thick canvas. And the super cool patch across the booty make these the BEST looking work clothes around, period. • The company is based in Australia and the price point hovers around $100 per piece. • But with most great things, the investment and time make it all worthwhile. • Ope! I forgot a few other details! • Most my jewelry is from @louisecarterjewelry and has been tested non-stop to see if it holds up to work- and it sure does! • My custom grills come from @goldtimekilleen • And my boots @bogsfootwear! • Happy Friday lil work ladies! - - - - - #workwear #womeninag #womenwhofarm #smallfarm #farm #farming #farmstead #homestead #farmfashion #homesteader #homesteading #homesteadersofinstagram #ootd #grwm #workclothes #work #strongwomenrock

Buzz buttons, szechuan buttons, toothache plant…there are a feast of street names attached to this super unique flower extract
Buzz buttons, szechuan buttons, toothache plant…there are a feast of street names attached to this super unique flower extract. • Drawn from the “acmella oleracea” plant, electric daisy has been clinically proven to enhance skin firmness, elasticity, and tonicity. • Minimizing the appearance of fine lines and crepey skin (a result of ageing, lack of moisture, and sun damage). • Spilanthes is a much gentler and less invasive way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and delay the signs of ageing (sans needles). • This is the very reason spilanthes has earned the nickname ‘Nature’s Botox’. • Within this new ingredient buzzing about the beauty industry - is a natural active compound called spilanthol, the main contributor to that tight and bright after-effect of using an “electric daisy” fuelled product. • Never heard of spilanthol? • You aren’t alone, but now is the time to pop it on your radar. I’m pretty good at spying an emerging trend… • Products containing spilanthol are pretty exclusive, for now, and while we await hard evidence as to just how botox-like this active could be, we’ll continue to brag about what we do know for certain. • Though a possible trend come on for some of us - let’s keep it real- cultures have been making use of this ingredient for many, many years; it’s been a traditional remedy known for its anesthetic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. • From a skincare perspective, it’s the main driver for smoothing over fine lines and wrinkles for a very youthful and energized looking skin texture. • Between this, goat milk soap, and tallow- Yes! Please! • I don’t know about you, but we caught the buzz (button)- and we’re planning to rock down to electric (daisy) avenue with the latest body product restock at WCF; right from our gardens and infused here on our farm! • Read the pinned comments for the recipe and quick how-to to make your own! • Don’t want to make your own?! The sunshine is out and warming our backs this week on the farm
The sunshine is out and warming our backs this week on the farm. • And with most tasks around the homestead, we have to strike while the iron’s hot, and take advantage of opportunities such as these- these beautiful days, that March gifts to us here and there, as we transition from winter to spring. • Although gardening can be strenuous work, there’s nothing like the renewed energy and spirit that comes from having your hands in the soil. • Whether you’re gardening for business or for pleasure, having your hands in the dirt, and amongst the plants, is a healing, uplifting experience no matter what its inspirations. • Gardening is also an outlet on the farm for our creative and artistic expression. • Being outdoors, working with God’s medium, offers benefits beyond those that meet the eye. • It boosts the immune system, relieves stress and keeps you grounded, increases vitamin D levels, offers cardiovascular support, improves oxygen levels and even boosts energy levels. • But I am also closest to God in the garden with the sounds of birds and bees buzzing in my ear, the wind blowing through my hair, and the warmth of the soil pressed under my hands. • This stillness and time in His glory opens up moments of prayer and meditation, presence and awareness. • Spring is here and renewal is among us. Ah, breathe it in. Rejoice! • This is the season for dirty hands, and ugly, chipped nails. No polish. Just dirt. The gardeners manicure. • Though this is off putting to some, to others, it’s almost a right of passage…a handshake or a wink from gardener to gardener, from farmer to farmer, these hands of ours. - - - - #vego @vego_garden #garden #gardening #smallfarm #farmstead #homestead #homesteading #transplanting #plants #growplants #gardeningseason #inmygardentoday #believer #herbalist #farmher #womeninag #growyourfood

Jason and I are always trying out health remedies and supplements
Jason and I are always trying out health remedies and supplements. It’s one of our hobbies, you could say, that we share with each other! 🤣💕🫶 • Though we get most of our nutrients from the plants and animals we grow and raise on our farmstead right here in Missouri- we don’t produce black shilajit ourselves, and it happens to be one of our all-time-favorites and most used supplements we take every day. • The health benefits are innumerable, so this caption will continue into the pinned comments as well! • Shilajit, a traditional herbal medicine, helps improve health issues ranging from Alzheimer’s disease and high cholesterol to weak, brittle bones (osteoporosis). Some people take shilajit to help relieve altitude sickness and boost their sperm count. • Shilajit contains an antioxidant known as fulvic acid. A 2012 study found that fulvic acid in shilajit may help block the buildup of tau—a type of protein that forms twisted clusters of dead and dying nerve cells known as neurofibrillary tangles. Tau is considered a key marker of Alzheimer’s disease and similar diseases.2 • Researchers have also found significant decreases in cholesterol levels and triglycerides in the shilajit group compared to the placebo group in case studies. A more recent animal study showed shilajit also reduced liver damage associated with non-alcoholic fatter liver disease (NAFLD) and reduced triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and blood sugar. • People may consume shilajit to reduce altitude sickness symptoms such as insomnia, headache, nausea, and fatigue. Altitude sickness is caused by hypoxia (lack of oxygen supply) and shilajit is thought to reduce hypoxia. • Collagen is an abundant protein in the body that is a major component of bone, skin, muscles, tendons, and cartilage. Collagen synthesis is important for maintaining healthy skin, joints, and muscles as you age because your body’s natural production gradually declines. • Cnt in pinned comments and replies 💕 - - - #herbalist #herbalism #healthychoices #supplements #naturalist #homesteader #homestead #blackshilajit #shilajit #shilajitbenefits

I’m a survivor
I’m a survivor. In my early twenties I was running with gangs, doing drugs, running a trap house, and living with one of the most dangerous men in the city. We were constantly fighting. He was constantly hitting. • I’m resilient. I got unexpectedly pregnant by this man and I thought my life was over. He demanded an abortion. I said no. I decided to have Kaiden, even though I didn’t know what I was going to do. I decided that demanding he marry me was a good starting point, and he did (an actually terrible decision that lasted just three months). • I’m able. After the worst he’d hit me, sending me down a flight of stairs with my baby still in my arms, I got a divorce. I moved out, though I was terrified he’d find me (which he did and was sentenced to 10 years in prison shortly after). I could breathe again after his sentencing and I got to work. I worked two jobs. I lived in cruddy, dangerous apartments. I was constantly exhausted and in survivor mode- but Kaiden and I were making it. I went to school and just stayed in school, gathering as many degrees and certifications as I could so that I’d never be in a position like I was, again. • I’m deserving. Right when I was just at the point of being happy, independent, and thriving (though I was still working through demons at this point)- Jason walked into my life. He showed me what a real man was, and what he was capable of. He supported, and accepted, not just me-but my daughter as well. He was calm, patient, trusting. I couldn’t believe this guy. Who would want me?! • I am loved. Through the love Jason showed me. The stability he gave. The calm, safe space he provided- I had a renewed faith in men. And therefore had a renewed faith in God as well. Years later, Jason and I both gave our lives back to Jesus and were redeemed. • I am grateful. Every day is made new and I rejoice! I take each day as it comes and cultivate my own sense of wonder and happiness around it. When you’ve been through a lot of darkness, the light is bright and easy to see. And it is welcomed! • I am growing. These hardships that I faced…make me who I am today. And I will continue to grow. Being grateful for each day He has blessed me with.

I am not a coffee drinker
I am not a coffee drinker. • It’s not anything personal, not because of health reasons, just because I don’t like it. 🤣🫣 • And I’m also not an alcohol drinker. • This is for personal reasons. I’m a maximalist and want it all or nothing. • So drinking and me don’t get along 🤣, and therefore I have been sober nearly a decade. • But what I AM- is a girl who still loves an intentionally crafted drink. • I love beverages! And I love to feel special. • I was a bartender for many years, so I still enjoy crafting and creating drinks…but nowadays I’m experimenting with less alcohol and more with teas and juices. • And this cute layered one I’ve been on for a while now! • This Raspberry Orange Matcha Latte is so bright and is also a bit sweet and a bit tart and oh so refreshing! • I absolutely LOVE this drink and this is how I make it if you’d like to, as well! • Grab a special glass, because that adds to the entire experience, and fill it with ice to the top (always do this for iced “mocktails” #bartending101) • Layer in your raspberry syrup first (since it’s the heaviest), then the orange juice, then top with matcha tea! • A third of each and that’s it! • Imagine the swaps you could do and the flavor combinations you could build off of from this one drink! • I make my own syrups just by reducing berries in a heavy bottom stainless steel pan with a bit of maple syrup (or sugar!). Or you can buy one too! • Cheers to sobriety! It doesn’t have to be boring!

Our milk and produce fridge that we stock up for our customers sits outside our farmhouse year around
Our milk and produce fridge that we stock up for our customers sits outside our farmhouse year around. • And when we first got it a couple years ago, we were pressed for time and the fridge was needed immediately. • So we found a little free one that did the trick and literally just plugged it in and threw it out. • Time passed and I sort of forgot about the little dingy (but functional!) fridge. • Running a farm is a 24/7 job and many things you think you’ll get around to- just never happens…or gets pushed down the never ending list of “things to get to when we have time”. Ha!!! • As did this. • But then I was feeling frisky with a bit of a warm front we had last week- and I also had these adorable solar lights by @gigalumi_ _ (link in stories today!) laying around, as well as this neon “milk” sign I have been DYING to hang, and I also had this grill by @mylondonsunshine I wanted to unbox and get set up. • So it all came to me that I should just revamp, refreshen, and add a bit of my maximilistic touches to the milk fridge space! • Jason is always on board to “make my dreams come true” as he would say and we spent the week completing this little cheap makeover. • Now, I am no professional, and this is not a “diy” remodel account 🤣. • This was more of a lipstick on a pig scenario and I didn’t want to break the budget with this project! • Jason gave me pointers on how to prepare the fridge with scraping and sanding and washing and drying. • Priming and painting. • Hanging and lifting. • That was his role. • I am here for application, vision, and cuteness, per usual. 🤣💁🏻‍♀️💕 • We are eventually painting the house pink with a red roof and red accents (another on-the-list project we’ll get to…eventually 🤣)- so the color scheme came quickly. • We opted for outdoor paint and no spray paint and applied it with cheap, disposable roller brushes. • The strawberries are decals used for interior rooms, for decor, for example- and I added fun touches with gold glitter puff paint. • The grate and handles are done in 24K gold paint, and we’ll see how that fairs in the elements…this may need to be redone- we’ll see. • Read pinned comment for the rest!

These @organorepublic seeds come from the seeds of broccoli, specifically, but they can also come from plants like arugula, basil, and beans- making them not just easy to grow but growing these seeds brings a level of satisfaction and instant gratification! • Microgreens are highly nutritious, packed with vitamins and minerals, and offer a concentrated flavor compared to mature plants, making them a great addition to your diet for a nutritional boost, while being easy to grow indoors in a small space with minimal effort! • Growing: To grow microgreens, you simply sow densely packed seeds onto a moist growing medium like a tray filled with soil or a fiber mat, provide them with adequate light and water, and harvest them when they reach their “micro” stage with only a few true leaves, typically within a week or two! • Easy setup: You can grow them in shallow trays, containers, or even on a windowsill using a basic growing medium like soil or a fiber mat. • Time: Most microgreens are ready to harvest within 7-14 days from seeding. • Variety: You can grow microgreens from a wide range of edible seeds like broccoli, kale, pea, beet, radish, sunflower, and more. • Light requirements: Place them in a bright location with indirect sunlight or use grow lights. • Watering technique: Bottom water to prevent overwatering and ensure even moisture distribution. • Harvesting: Cut the microgreens at the base of the stem using clean scissors or a knife when they have developed their first set of true leaves. • So we know that they’re easy to grow, can be grown anywhere, and with minimal effort…what else?! • Nutritional value: Microgreens contain significantly higher concentrations of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants compared to mature plants. • Flavor boost: Their concentrated flavor adds a vibrant taste to salads, sandwiches, or dishes. • Year-round availability: You can grow them indoors regardless of the season. • Aesthetic appeal: Microgreens add visual interest to your meals with their colorful leaves. • Easy to start: Even novice gardeners can successfully grow microgreens. - - - #gardening #microgreens #seedstarting #seeds #spring

I get a lot of questions about Frankincense and other aromatic materials we use in our apothecary
I get a lot of questions about Frankincense and other aromatic materials we use in our apothecary. • Especially the question, how do I burn it? • Raw incense resins are usually aromatic exudates formed on the surface of trees and plants. • Though we like to call them saps, they differ from the true sap of the tree since they are usually produced by special ducts close to the surface of the tree in response to injury and are not part of the system that conveys nutrients. • The purpose of these aromatic exudates is to repel insects, disinfect wounds and provide a barrier between the wound and infectious organisms. • They are named “oleoresins” since they contain oil, (Volatile or essential oil), and resin acids or resin. • Many, such as most types of Frankincense, also contain water-soluble gum which makes them “Oleo gum resins”. • As incense, these oleoresins are burned, alone or in combination with other fragrant materials such as powdered bark, flowers and essential oils. • Most Western cultures use manufactured pucks made from compressed powdered charcoal. • In our country, we can find foil-wrapped charcoal pucks wherever Hookahs and Nargilehs are sold. • Those are ok- but I prefer using alternatives to these Saltpeter infused “quick starting” charcoal discs. • You can find healthier compressed charcoal made from coconut shells, bamboo and other sustainable materials. • The only drawback to these more natural charcoal alternatives is that they can be very challenging to light. • If you are going to be burning every day, I’d suggest using an electric burner to avoid using a coal. • Since we burn during certain prayer times for certain reasons, I prefer this more traditional technique using the coal and censer. • Read the pinned comment on how to use a censer for this type of incense burning practice. - - - #resin #frankincense #myrrh #incense #incenseburner #censer

It’s #farmfashionfriday
It’s #farmfashionfriday! • Today, I thought I’d feature a staple in my wardrobe, my boots! • These are my favorite styles and I wear these (mostly) lacers, year around. • I LOVE how they go with my dresses and a good pair of socks. • And since I wear dresses year around, and work in them too, good foot-ware is a must! • They not only protect my feet on the farm, paired with a good pair of wool socks, they also keep my feet warm, they support my ankles and are durable for farm work. • I often have some criteria when snagging a “new” pair of boots. • First, I have a specific style I’m after-lace up or zip up. Ankle high, no higher. Often equestrian. Even better if they have tassels on the toes! • Secondly, I also really like real leather and high quality so to obtain that, within budget, I shop them secondhand. • And thirdly, i have a brand I prefer, too. @ariat • I love @ariatequestrian boots so much, I even have a special handmade-in-Spain pair that my husband bought for me. • Remember those?! 🤤 • So here’s a little look at (I hate to admit 🤣) just *some* of my favorite boot and skirt pairings! • Enjoy! • But mostly, Happy Friday!!!!! - - - - - - - #boots #skirts #thrifted #homestead #homesteader #homesteading #footware #workware #smallfarm #farmher #womeninag #traditional
